Inscription on recto of Imprimatur: Guil. Somneri Cantuariensis ex dono Viri scientiâ juxta ac humanitate spectabilis, Ricardi Knowler de Hearne in agro Cantiano 1658.
Given to William Somner by Richard Knowler (c.1601–1660) of Herne, Kent, in 1658. Knowler is recorded in Alumni Oxonienses as 'Lincoln Coll., matric. 22 Jan., 1618-19, aged 16 (subs. "Knoller"), B.A. 26 June, 1622; M.A. from Pembroke Coll. 3 May, 1625.'[1]
